I was born into a sailing family, and I continue to love the sport of sailboat racing many years later. My family joined BLSC in the early 2000’s bringing three Y-Flyers with them from Guelph Community Boating Club. My love for dinghy racing started in 2005 when I began crewing for my Dad on the family boat during club races, which were good practice for the 2006 Y-Flyer Mid-winter Championship. I participated in some of the first BOOM learn to sail programs held at the club; then I decided to skipper my own boat. At ten years of age, I slowing worked my way up to racing in the Laser and Laser Radial classes. Recently, I picked up a Y-Flyer to race at Belwood and other venues. I enjoy travelling to regattas in Canada and the United States, as far South as Georgia. Alongside the duty of Race Captain, I will continue my work as the Marketing Director for the Y-Flyer class in Canada where I am bringing in new sailmakers, venues, and attention from the public. I hope to continue improving the racing experience for all sailors at BLSC in the same way I work towards building the Y-Flyer community.
