A good number of people turned up for the PRO training/reminder session Sunday before the first racing of the season. New Race Captain Warren went over the operation of the equipment, mark setting, race management and results recording. This happened during a bit of a downpour but spirits were not dampened.
Al Hilborn then went over the starting, lifting, lowering and operation of the two motors (slightly different from each other).
Some more racers then turned up for a planned discussion of the handicap measures to be used at Belwood. The decision was made to continue to use the US Portsmouth rates, but not to consider different wind speeds. Then, by majority vote, it was decided to drop the 3% handicap for double handed boats sailed singlehandedly for regular club racing but to include it for special regattas such as the Wellington Cup and the Commodore's Cup.
