2017 Event Schedule

All Season


    We will race every Wednesday evening starting in May and ending in September. Start date 10th May with a BBQ to follow for this first race day. Remember, the water is cold in the early months of the year - wearing a wetsuit is a good idea.


        We will race every Sunday afternoon starting in May and ending in September. Start date 14th May, note this is Mothers Day - bring your mother.  Remember, the water is cold in the early months of the year - wearing a wetsuit is a good idea.


        Cruising will continue this year after last year's successful start. Start date 29th May with an Open House and a BBQ. See Cruising At Belwood elsewhere in the website. 



        • Private Function (Bridal Shower) SATURDAY June 3rd

          To be held from 3pm to 7pm. Members may use the full club facilities as usual.

        • The Wellington Cup SUNDAY June 11th

          Held at Belwood Lake Sailing Club this year on Sunday June 11th. Skippers Meeting 1pm, first gun 1:30pm. BBQ and Cake afterwards. ALL welcome to attend. More details to come.

        • Private Function TUESDAY June 13th

          Church group to hold meeting and BBQ in the evening. Members may use the full facilities of the club as usual.

        • Wednesday 21st Longest Day BBQ after evening racing

          It is a tradition for the racers to stay after the racing on a Wednesday closest to the longest day to enjoy an informal BBQ. Details to come later.

        • Saturday 24th NEW MEMBERS Wine/Beverage and Cheese evening.

          EVERYONE is invited to this fun social event, especially new members. Come and meet your fellow sailors and if you would like, get paired up with a mentor who you can ask about the club, sailing, etc. Bring a bottle of wine for others to share (or other beverage). A fine spread of cheeses from round the world will be waiting for you to sample. RSVP to Social Captain Patrick by June 17th.


        • SATURDAY 1st - Canada Day - CRUISER NIGHT and View Fireworks

          Elora Canada Day Parade. All members invited to participate in celebrating Canada's 150th birthday. Also Cruiser Night and View Fireworks. If you would like to help in any way, contact Social Captain Patrick.

        • Fri, Sat, Sun 7, 8, 9th. Boy Scouts camping and canoeing

          The Boy Scouts, who originally leased our site, are coming for a few days of camping and water activities. The club is fully available to members during their stay.

        • Saturday 8th. Private Function 11 to dusk

          A birthday celebration will be held 11 to dusk. The club is fully available to all members.

        • Saturday 15th. Ontario Mirror Dinghy Association One Day Regatta

          The Mirrors are holding a one day regatta and will be using Charger, the club's motor boat. Otherwise the club is fully available to members while they are with us.

        • Sunday 16th. Pursuit Races. 2pm And BBQ

          Date and details to come. Pursuit races are organised such that, theoretically, all boats finish at the same time. This is accomplished by each class starting in a timed sequence depending on the handicap - slower boats are started first. Come early to attend the Skippers' Meeting to make sure you know the procedure.

        • Saturday 29th. Private Function 2 to 7pm

          A family picnic for 20 to 25 people. The club is fully available to all members.


      • Sunday 20th Deadline for Newsletter #3

        Please send any contributions for the September newsletter to the Publicity Captain.

      • Sunday 27th JUNIOR REGATTA, COMMODORE'S CUP and DINNER. 12noon

        Junior regatta at 12 noon if any participants. Winner is awarded the Junior Trophy and ALL participants get prizes. Our usual Sunday races still count towards the Sunday Series, but in addition the winning boat this day is awarded the Commodore's Cup. Afterwards at approximately 5pm there will be a catered dinner at which ALL CLUB MEMBERS are invited.

      • Thursday 30th Private Bike Group Event. 9am to approx. 3pm

        The group is using the site as its start and finish so there will be cars parked and social time afterwards. There will be no disruption to club access or use.


      • Friday 1st to Monday 4th OMDA Weekend

        The Mirrors will be here again, and of course our Sunday races will be run as normal.

      • Saturday 16th. Campfire 5pm

        Marshmallows!! Spider Dogs!! Singing!!

      • Wednesday  13th. Last Wednesday racing. BBQ afterwards. 6:30pm ***

        We will be running out of both ramp and daylight and this final Wednesday racing is often cancelled, watch our Twitter feed and/or our FaceBook page to see if it's a go or not.

      • Sunday 17th Last Sunday racing. 2pm BBQ afterwards.***

        If there's wind and we can still launch the boats (sometimes at this time of year the water has dropped too far) the racing will be on. Watch our Twitter feed and/or our FaceBook page to find out.

      • Saturday 30th Club Closing Work Party. 9am ***

        Date to be confirmed. It usually seems as if this day has come too soon. All members are asked to come and pack the club up for the winter - docks in, tables stacked, garbage collected, the clubhouse tidied away, etc. There will be the usual refreshments and lunch - please bring a salad or a dessert.


      • Sunday 22nd Fall General Meeting 2pm

        We look forward to seeing you to celebrate the season's events and discuss club business, oh and finally hand out some well deserved racing trophies.
        To be held at 21 Imperial Road South Guelph, the West End Community Centre Room 2 at 2pm.
