In a normal year, racing would be starting Sunday, May 10 at 2pm and Wednesday, May 13 at 630pm. We would be watching the weather and digging out the layers and wetsuits as the water is quite cold in May.
Of course, this year is like no other. But racing will start on time and with no worries about the weather or hypothermia if one were to capsize.
Perfect time to start eSailing on Virtual Regatta - free to play
Now is the perfect time to start eSailing, especially with the temporary closure of so many clubs and centres and everyone having to stay at home. It’s a fantastic way to stay in touch and continue racing and practice your racing tactics from your own home.
You don’t need to pay to use Virtual Regatta. It’s as simple as visiting their website from a laptop or PC or downloading the app on a smartphone or iPad and clicking ‘play now’ on either the inshore or offshore game. You can then enter the game and learn how to use it and compete against others all around the world. If you want to compete and keep your score, you’ll need to create a login and a user profile. You also have the option of entering the eSailing World & GBR National Championships.
BLSC plans to buy a VIP pass and offer custom BLSC races to members. Race captain Colin will run the Sunday and Wednesday races, at their usual times. We are asking members to reply to this email to register as the maximum number of competitors is 20. Registration is first come, first registered - please try out the free version and then be ready to race May 10.
